Revision of the SFDR regulation: The Institut de la Finance Durable releases its response to the European Commission consultation
Following the European Commission’s publication of its SFDR revision proposal on 20 November 2025, the Institut de la Finance Durable (IFD) has published its response to the consultation, dated 3 April 2026. IFD welcomes the proposal while identifying key areas for improvement:
- Broadening the scope to ensure no financial product is excluded by default, including structured products and insurance-based instruments;
- Refining product categorisation, particularly the Transition category, whose exclusion criteria are considered restrictive;
- Including additionality as a fundamental pillar of impact finance;
- Regulating ESG data providers in terms of minimum transparency and methodological requirements.
The Paris financial centre stands ready to contribute actively to the finalisation of an ambitious and operational revised SFDR framework.
