The winners of the 3rd ‘Fintech for Tomorrow’ Challenge were announced on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Climate Finance Day in Paris. With the theme ‘Creating fertile ground to strengthen fintechs’ contribution to the ecological transition’, the Challenge attracted over 40 French and international entries. The 8 French finalists were auditioned by the jury, and each won support from players in the finance innovation ecosystem. Thanks to the support of ADEME and Climate-KIC, Finance for Tomorrow was able to reward ‘EcoTree’ as French winner, ‘Villyz’ as French favorite, and finally ‘Greenomy’ as international winner.

Since 2018, Finance for Tomorrow has been rewarding innovative solutions that help transform practices in the financial sector, thanks to the support of the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) and the EIT Climate-KIC.

The ‘Fintech for Tomorrow’ Challenge mobilizes start-ups and companies offering digital solutions to help finance the transition and reduce the environmental impact of the financial sector. Indeed, innovation in the financial sector must play a key role in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement. Fintechs have the potential to bring new solutions to accelerate the financing of a decarbonized and inclusive economic model. For example, digital tools can promote the transparency of financial flows, ensure the quality of ESG data, develop the ecological accounting of companies by quantifying and reinforcing their positive impact on the climate, or improve access to sustainable financial products for citizens.

With this in mind, the ‘Fintech for Tomorrow’ Challenge is a project of the Paris financial center, a source of partnerships and development opportunities, aimed at strengthening the contribution of fintechs to the ecological transition. It responds to the need to jointly mobilize the dynamism of the sustainable finance and fintech ecosystems, to support entrepreneurs in the ecological transition and foster the growth of their projects.
